James B. Dietz

Attorney James B. Dietz (aka Jamie)
is a life-long Mahoning Valley resident, graduating from Cardinal Mooney
High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University
of Dayton with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration
(Finance Major), and then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University
of Toledo College of Law. He is licensed to practice law in all courts
in the State of Ohio, the Federal District Court for the Northern District
of Ohio, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Attorney Dietz has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association
as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law. In addition
to these specialized areas, Jamie limits his practice to corporate,
business, real estate and transactional law.
Jamie is the recipient of the 2005-2006 Lawyer of the Year Award (recognition
of the skills advanced in the profession in the prior year) and the
2010-2011 Distinguished Service Award (appreciation for the many years
of exemplary service to the MCBA and the community at large), both presented
by the Mahoning County Bar Association. Cincinnati Magazine distinguished
Jamie as a Super Lawyer for 2010 and 2011.He also served as President
of the Mahoning County Bar Association for its 2008-2009 term year.
Jamie’s relationship with Friedman & Rummell Co., L.P.A. began
when he served as an intern after his first year of law school in the
summer of 1989. After becoming licensed to practice law in 1991, he
joined the firm as an associate. He is now a principal with the firm
and acts as its Managing Partner. He practices from both the firm’s
downtown Youngstown and Canfield offices.
In addition to the Mahoning County Bar Association, his professional
affiliations include the Trumbull County Bar Association, Ohio State
Bar Association and the Mahoning-Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council.
He also serves on the Boards of Trustees for the Mahoning County Bar
Association, Mahoning County Bar Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of
Mahoning County, Inc., and Gateways To Better Living, Inc., as well
as the Canfield Township Zoning Commission after being appointed in
2009. He is a frequent lecturer on a variety of estate planning and
probate topics, and has instructed the Estate Planning course at Youngstown
State University in the graduate accounting program.
In 2008, Habitat for Humanity presented Jamie with the Golden Nail Award
in recognition of his innovative leadership and exemplary community
service. An avid runner, Jamie qualified for and completed the 2010
Boston Marathon, and as part of his quest in competing in this event,
he raised over $11,500 to fight Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic disease
afflicting young children.
Jamie and his wife, Denise, a physical therapist, reside in Canfield,
Ohio with their two children, James, Jr. and Luke.
